Features to know about

Seamless Replacement or Upgrade for Your RV

If your old generator has worn out or you're stepping up to built-in power, this QG 3600 propane onboard generator delivers dependable performance for the essentials that make RV life more enjoyable. Enjoy the comforts you count on - morning coffee, fully charged devices, and lights on at any hour. Plus, it has enough power to run one 13,500 BTU air conditioner, so you can beat the summer heat and stay comfortable wherever you park.

Designed to Replace Earlier QG 3600 Models

If you're replacing a previous Onan QG 3600 the overall layout is very similar. Intake, exhaust, and drain locations generally align with earlier models, so major bay modifications usually aren't required. You'll still need to reconnect the propane line, electrical wiring, and exhaust components, and minor adjustments may be necessary depending on your RV's setup. As with most onboard generators, working with an experienced installer can help ensure everything is set up correctly the first time. You can use etrailer's installer locator to find a qualified shop near you and get help with install.

Reliable Power, Every Time

After a long drive or when the weather turns wet and rainy, nobody wants to wrestle with a bulky generator. With one-touch start and remote switching capability, powering up is always simple, rain or shine. All you have to do is press the power button and relax. And the built-in shutoffs handle low oil, overloads, and engine quirks automatically, so you can settle in for the night with your fridge cold, your CPAP on, and no worries about unexpected shutdowns.

Quiet That Passes the Neighbor Test

This generator uses sound-dampening technology and a special muffler to help keep things peaceful. You won't have to raise your voice for campfire stories, cut conversations short, or lose sleep to engine noise. It also meets National Park Service noise guidelines, so you can experience brilliant fall foliage in the Great Smoky Mountains or visit the steaming geysers at Yellowstone without worry.

Simple Upkeep for the Real World

From routine oil changes to replacing the air filter, regular service is straightforward. You don't need to be a mechanic - basic tools and standard maintenance intervals are usually all it takes to keep things running reliably for years to come. And with built-in self-diagnostic capability, troubleshooting issues is quicker and easier so you can spend less time tracking down problems and more time enjoying your RV.

A Long-Term Upgrade to How You Travel

For many RV owners, an onboard generator quickly becomes something they rely on every trip. It allows you to manage heat, power appliances, and stay comfortable without planning around hookups. That kind of reliability matters more the longer you own your rig. If you're replacing an older unit, upgrading to more power, or adding an onboard generator for the first time, the QG 3600 supports travel that's less restricted by weather, location, or campground availability. It's an upgrade that continues to pay off over years of use.

Notes:

  • Per manufacturer guidelines, the generator should be run for 2 hours each month under load to maintain proper operation and prevent fuel system issues.
  • Designed for propane/LP use only. Gas and diesel models are available.
  • CARB (California Air Resource Board), EPA, and National Park Approved.

Video Transcript for Review of Onan Cummins Generators - Onboard RV Generator 3600 Watts Propane - CM92ZR

Hi, everyone, Steve here with etrailer.com. Today we're looking at our Cummins Onan Quiet series, Onboard RV generator. 3,600 watts, runs on propane. So folks, if your old generator finally gave out after many, many years of great use, this own in 3,600 should fit right into the same spot as your original. You're still gonna need to hook up the fuel line, the electrical and the exhaust, but the major work should already be done for you from the factory. Now, if you don't wanna tackle it yourself, you can reach out to our local dealer locator tool on our website, etrailer.com.

Go to the dealer locator tool on the site, and we can help you find someone local in your area to install it for you. And if you have any questions about this or where to find that, you can reach us in the comments below as well. Now folks, this will give you instant power on demand. You have a reliable one touch startup, it's gonna keep the RV's air conditioner, fridge, and your essentials running. The inside of this box has soundproofing and the mufflers enclosed, so it's gonna give you an extra quiet operation day or night.

I do wanna come up here in the front and go ahead and take off this panel. There's two simple turn knobs right here. You just simply flip them up to where it says open, and this is gonna pop off. Now, some people have asked us in the past, why don't these lock, there's no need for these to lock because your access door in your RV or camper is already gonna have that lock on there. So you just simply pop this off, and then now you'd have access to your oil, the switch, and the electrical stuff as well for maintenance.

So again, here's some of that soundproof that I was talking about. I'm gonna go ahead and pull this whole top off. I have pre-move some of these bolts before we start today together. And that's gonna get that outta the way, so we can now see the inside a lot better. So you're gonna have some brackets here, some hardware, and then the length of wire for wiring it up.

And then of course your main connector here, and then your propane connections here on the side as well. So as you can see, nice little unit. Now it does have a sound decimal level of 69 decibels when you're right up close on it, but it does meet the National Park Service requirements of that max 60 decibels at 50 foot. Come from the top down, give you a little better view of everything. Now it is inside of a nice solid housing, and you'll mount that in place, and it does have a nice vibration oscillation built into that base to keep everything nice and quiet, as well as that quiet muffler I mentioned earlier. Now, these are built for the long haul. You're gonna have nice, reliable, long lasting power, which is gonna be perfect for your trips and everything,. And you don't have to worry about stuff, because it has built-in shutoffs when you get low oil, maybe even the overload a little bit or those kind of engine issues, it's gonna automatically shut itself down, save itself the way you can get everything fixed that you need to maybe replace some oil and those kind of things. Maintenance, pretty routine, pretty simple. You don't have to be a mechanic. Just have some basic tools and according to the instructions, you can do all that yourself locally as well through that access panel. Well, folks, that is gonna wrap it up for our quick look together. Again, I'm Steven, thanks so much for your time. Hope this information's been helpful for you. Have a great one.

Review of the Onan 3600 LP Generator, Super Quiet, Reliable Power

I’ve worked with a lot of generators and the Cummins Onan Quiet Series is one of the best I’ve used. This thing is a 3600 watt propane RV generator that’s perfect for folks boondocking or just wanting something they can trust.

First off, yes, it’s quiet. It actually has soundproofing material inside. It hits about 69 decibels up close, but meets the 60 dB standard at 50 feet, so it's campground and national park friendly. I’ve used older gas models that rattled the whole rig. This one hums smooth and quiet. Great for anyone looking for a quiet generator to run an RV air conditioner, fridge, microwave, etc.

If your RV is generator prepped, installation is easy. Propane hookup, electrical, and exhaust were already in place. It takes a couple of hours with some basic tools. If you’re not prepped, you might want to call a local installer, but it’s definitely doable.

Starting it is simple, which I really like. Just a one button start from inside the RV.

Maintenance is straightforward. Just twist off the front panel (no tools needed), and you’ve got access to the oil and wiring. It even has auto shutoff for low oil or overload, so you’re protected if something goes wrong.

Bottom line this generator is quiet, clean, reliable, and made for real RV life. If you’re thinking about an upgrade or replacing an old unit, I highly recommend the Onan 3600 LP generator (A055E865). It just works.

  • 200 ah Lithium Battery Recommendation for 2019 Dynamax Isada 3
Hey Les, for a 200 amp hour LiFePO4 battery the Redarc part # RED72RR would be a really great option. With two of these you'd easily be able to start your Cummins Onan Generator part # CM92ZR. Onan generators at a max require 650 cold cranking amps so two 200 amp hour batteries would make easy work of that. You also would need a converter with ability to charge lithium batteries as well like what the # PD4060K you mentioned as well. Do you have any solar on your RV?
